Love the old farm house style bungalow! Specially appreciated there are a lot of hand crafted details in the interior: the bathroom with curved divider wall and mirror frame, the wooden panels to shade the lights from the window, the metal handles…enjoyed the view on our terrace. Breakfast has limited choices but good quality. Friendly staff. Lovely horses!
Pros:
- The bed is large, 180cm. And comfortable.
- There is a tower heating in the bathroom, super handy!
- Mosquito net on all windows, can sleep with open window to feel the wind, AC wasn’t necessary. (AC is Fujitsu, and TV is Toshiba, good brands)
- Kettle in the room
- Clean, deep swimming pool
- The restaurant building (authentic style) has a lounge to play chess
Cons:
- We found one used sock(pantie?) under the bed
- The sitting area in reception and restrooms are full of dirts and spider nets
- Could hear motorbikes noise from the road in the room
- Commercial/ unauthentic toilette products (made in Germany?!) will hope to have Provence soap instead. Also those small bottles are not “sustainable” as the hotel categories itself
- Small packages of commercial brand marmalade on breakfast table, will wish to have some artisan ones from the region instead.
This kind establishment let us stay for a night at last minute; the hotel where we initially planned to stay decided to cancel our reservation without notice, so we were incredibly relieved when they offered us a room, even at last minute (11pm on the same night !). As a taste of Camargue and comfort, this place has everything you need; the staff were nice, the rooms are well decorated, very clean and air conditioned, the beds are comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was surprisingly complete. There's also a swimming pool and even some stables to accomodate your horse(s), we were there by motorcycle so we didn't bother. The reception was very helpful, giving us insight on what to do and where to eat. All in all, this was a wonderful experience, and we would not hesitate to come back to spend another night at this establishment.
The location is good, as well as the experience per se.
Altough, in my case it has not been a very positive experience.
They guide I had was not kind.
I asked her for some help, because the horse ridden by the person ahead of me had literally pooped twice on my shoe and pants. I asked her kindly wheteher she had a tissue in order to clean my clothes, since the ride would last 2 h 30 min and I was not comfortable with having horse poop on my foot and leg for such a long time.
She did not help me and moreover she told me, in front of all the people, that the fault was mine, who I could not ride a horse properly. I specified more than once that I am a beginner, therefore I did not understand this attitude towards me. Moreover, I was following precisely the instructions she gave us before riding; the problem was that the horse did not follow the command "stop". I tried all my best, but simply it did not collaborate with me.
I felt upset and embarrassed for more than half of the time and unfortunately I am more confortable with forgetting this experience.
One suggestion: people come from afar and pay a lot of money for experiences like this, so please be kind towards them.
I give 2 stars: 4 is for the experience, 1 for the treatment. The average is 2.5, rounded down - because I felt very disappointed - to 2.
Location is close to the beach and town, but still a 5 minute drive. The electricity went out both nights, and we had to mess with the circuit breaker; turning everything electrical off but the AC in order to keep cool in the sweltering summer heat. The reception took note of this but didn’t even offer an apology. The bed was fine, but the sheets were rough and uncomfortable, and there were only two flat pillows on a king. Breakfast was an additional 20 euros per person, which seemed a bit much for the overall quality we felt from the place. We stayed in one of the traditional bungalows, which in actuality was quite dark and dingy, with essentially no privacy while permitting natural light. There was no view of the wetlands, just mosquito-ridden little canals near our hut, which was crowded amongst many other bungalows and right beside the highway with plenty of traffic noise at night. Overall, a very disappointing experience.
We went on a horse Ride with Ophélie and are very satisfied. Ophélie is a very kind and friendly person and also a professional and very good rider. She gave her best and also wanted to fulfill our every wish during the ride, she also let us trot when we wanted to and took pictures for us. The horses were also very well educated and also Cap‘tain was well to ride, I had a lot of fun. She adjusts the ride to your skill levels so don’t worry, even if you can’t ride you will have a ton of fun. Thank you Ophélie and L‘Auberge Cavalière, hopefully we will meet again in the future
Overall poor standard, not up to scratch for any hotel let alone a "four-star resort". Room was freezing when we arrived. Dirty filthy pool with the same pieces of rubbish clearly visible for both days of our stay. No kettle or tea/coffee in room, when mentioned to reception I was told I'd need to upgrade to a "Cabane" as if this was some sort of luxury and not standard absolutely everywhere. Bath taps leaked scalding water on my fiancée during a bath. No shower curtain meant that the bathroom was absolutely soaked when showering. No anti-mosquito equipment, which is very necessary in the lovely Camargue swampland and is offered in local hotels. Safe had no battery so unusable. Restaurant menu pretentious and overpriced so we didn't visit. Breakfast double the price of previous comparable hotels and of only moderate quality.
Only saving features were the location and the tame ducks which sat on our terrace. Having read their previous reviews I'm sure their response will talk about these extensively.
It lacks s good renovation for the price it charges you. Surroundings are beautiful but the highway reminds you all the time that you are actually in a busy place. Saintes Marie was much less interesting than I thought as a city lacking nice and refined places
Beautiful hotel in La Camargue. Highly recommend taking the horse back riding tour, the guides are fun and super knowledgeable about the flora & fauna.
The hotel itself is probably the best one in the area, the rooms are cozy and homey, really peaceful.
